“Taking care of yourself doesn’t mean me first, it means me too.” -Lululemon
As a woman business owner, it’s essential to prioritize self-care to ensure your well-being and success. Though running a business can be oh so rewarding, the challenges, stressors, triggers and people can be a force to be reckoned with. This post will list 10 practical self-care tips tailored specifically for women business owners dealing with the stresses of entrepreneurship.
Let’s get started.
- Recognize that Self-Care is definitely needed:
Even though we tell ourselves that self-care is important, and we see it all over social media, how often do we practice what we learn? Do we try and start a regime, or do we acknowledge it is needed, but say that we are too busy to start and will do it later. Meanwhile the stress is piling up.
Acknowledgement that you not only need to practice self-care, but you need to start practicing it right away.
- Create Your Boundaries:
Establish clear boundaries between work and personal life in order to maintain balance and prevent yourself from experiencing burnout. Do your best to set designated work hours. Also try and limit after-hours communication with clients and employees. Also, aim to prioritize time for rest, relaxation, and all the activities that make you happy and bring you peace and calm.
- Delegate:
When you start or run a business, no matter how big or small, you feel as though everything that needs to be done that you deem important must be done by you. There’s nothing wrong with that. However, you only have 24 hours in a day, 7 days in a week, two hands, one brain, one heart, two eyes and no room for self-care. Delegate tasks that don’t require your expertise or can be handled by others. This way you can shift your focus on high-priority tasks that drive business growth and success… Effortlessly.
- Practice Mindfulness and Stress Management:
Stress is so common nowadays that it seems as though it is normal for people to be in this type of state on autopilot. That is not okay. You must find ways to eliminate your stress level as we all know that it leads to further health damage. There are so many ways you could elevate stress. Some are dancing to your favorite song, yoga, painting, journaling, chatting with a great friend that has an awesome listening ear. Maybe exercise, deep breathing or meditation is your thing. This will help you stay grounded and resilient when you face challenges.
- Create a Supportive Network:
Create a supportive network of mentors, peers, and friends who understand the challenges of entrepreneurship and can offer guidance, encouragement, and perspective when needed. If you think you need a little more support for your mental health, don’t be afraid to seek professional help. There is nothing wrong with that. Notice I said create a network as opposed to joining. There’s nothing wrong with joining a network, if you create one however, you select the individuals that you feel most comfortable with and you know will definitely support you. Just my opinion.
- Take Regular Breaks and Rest:
Though it is tempting to work around the clock, as mentioned in the beginning of this post, set boundaries for yourself and do not fall into the dark hole of working around the clock. You need to take breaks and go walk outside, go buy you a candle, buy yourself some flowers then come back and continue where you left off. Only you know what’s best for you when you take a break. Ensure you’re getting enough sleep each night to support your physical and mental well-being. Build a sleep routine and stick to it.
- Invest in Professional Development:
This is so important. You must commit to ongoing professional development and learning to stay relevant in your industry and expand your skills and knowledge. Conferences, workshops, online courses, and joining industry associations can be a great start. To keep improving and evolving, you must continue to invest in yourself.
- Time Management and Organization:
In order to run a business that is successful and runs smoothly, use tools such as calendars, task lists, and project management software to prioritize tasks, set realistic deadlines, and track progress. Start allocating time for focused work is very important, ensure you have adequate time for both business responsibilities and personal activities.
- Be Flexible & Adaptable:
As you run your business or starting one, be willing to be flexible and adaptable are key attributes for success. Accepting change and uncertainty as opportunities for growth and innovation, instead of a trigger for stress. Keep yourself open to new ideas, feedback, and solutions.
- Celebrate… Always:
Celebrate your achievements and milestones, no matter how small. No matter if you succeeded at closing a deal, launching a new product, or reaching a personal goal. Girl, you better celebrate your wins. All of them. Gather with friends, gather with your loved ones, buy yourself something small, you deserve to celebrate, you work hard and rarely get credit for what people don’t see. So celebrate and love on yourself.
Enhance your resilience, productivity, and overall well-being as a woman business owner by incorporating some or all of these points to help you grow as an awesome, beautiful, golden, joyful, nurturing woman and business owner.
That’s all for now
Love y’all bye! 😁❤️
