“If time were to take on human form, would she be your taskmaster or freedom fighter?” – Richie Norton
Why does it seem as though more hours are needed in a day and an extra day is needed at the end of the week?
Could we be over thinking things? Could it be that maybe just possibly, a little bit, we are mismanaging our 24 hours?
We haves so much on our plate, children, spouse, business, employees, trying to delegate to the best candidate, date night, girls’ night out, health and wellness, cooking, cleaning, planning, meetings, putting out fires in business and at home. Women multitask daily; however, we are also guilty of getting distracted and waste time as well.
Can something that we deem important and is truly something that can wait or be delegated, be something that we are hiding behind in order to avoid something else>
In life, we are bombarded with distractions, social media, people (both that we like and don’t like) and we are constantly trying to find the hole in the boat that is sinking the ship.
In other words, we get distracted and then try to find a reason why things are not getting done. Sometimes the problem is us. Not others as many of us would like to think, I myself have had plenty of fights within myself wondering and debating if it is truly me that is causing the issue.
Guess what? It was me. It is a hard truth to look at ourselves and wonder if something is wrong with our internal wiring on how to maneuver through life and all the challenges.
“Time is what we want most, but what we spend worst.” – William Penn
Usually, the answer is staring us right in the face and we look over, under, diagonal, up, sometimes backward and in our pocket. The truth is right in front of us. We must manage ourselves better. If we can tackle managing our time, we can then give way to managing ourselves.
Once you can manage yourself, you are unstoppable.
When managing yourself. No matter what anyone says, you must first, discover the areas within yourself that need help. Is it your thought process? Communication? Social struggles? Stubbornness? Lack of gratitude? Unfulfilling relationships? Self-Control? Substance abuse? Attitude toward others?
Whatever the issue is, look to the root of why and how it came to be. Once you do that, that is not an overnight thing by the way, you can then move on to how to tackle it. No one on this planet can do a 360 overnight. This is a process, and your mental state is the foundation of becoming the person you can genuinely be proud of.
In summary, your time is what is in your way and blocking you from blossoming. Managing your time can be done by simply putting pen to paper and structuring each day the night before. Sticking to the schedule and time slots you have created and making sure to include time for self-reflection as that is the time to work on the internal struggles by first putting them on paper.
“Efficiency is doing things right; effectiveness is doing the right things.” – Peter Drucker
You are writing a list of all the negative struggles that you are dealing with internally. Then you are going to write what you think may have triggered these struggles. Does it stem back from childhood, a bad relationship, etc.
Getting to the root of why your internal wiring works the way it does will definitely help you combat those struggle in the future when you have an understanding of what triggers them.
To your time management success.
